Training Philosophy

Pioneering Excellence in Every Art


We at Florida Active Club are working on building an original style that focuses on basic universal fighting principles so that anything you learn can be applied to any other art.

This will not be achieved all at once, and much will be subject to change, but we have nearly completed our starter guide on this fighting system, and we are working towards making our general training reflect this system, as we think this will be the most effective style for the lives we lead.

It’s designed to prioritize safety and control over the situation rather than damage.

Our top priority is remaining safe and collecting information, and when engaging to focus on gaining an advantageous position.

Once we have an advantageous position our top priority is keeping it, do not sacrifice your position to deal damage.

The majority of your time is going to be spent on movement, defense, hand fighting, and other principles of control, and you will be applying these same principles in different Arts as we progress(Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, etc)

As you gain competency in one area we’ll help you develop in the next, until you’re a complete fighter, and we will not neglect offense in our training.

Each of you will have different strengths and weaknesses and will need to fight in specific ways in order to maximize your advantages against different opponents.

Fight Strategy

Find your advantage.

Learn to fight at every range, and at every angle.

Start the fight on the outside, the furthest, safest range. Test and probe with lots of feints and occasional blitz in order to both lull your opponent/wear their reflexes out, as well as maintain their respect of your attacks through the sudden blitz.

Figure out their weaknesses, and figure out where and at what range you have advantages, and then force the fight into that area as often as possible.
